Leadership

One of the attractions of trading for a living is freedom. That includes freedom from employees and employers.

You could be happily living off the cash flow from your own trades.

However, if you have ambitions for something bigger, then you’ll need some people skills. Even if you’re a super know-it-all, you’ll need other people to help you achieve something bigger than living off your own trading.

Information in Kelly Perdew’s book Take Command is a good place to start learning some people skills that you might need to get other people to help you succeed beyond trading for a living. For example, the next level in your success might be to get some employees or independent contractors to help in aspects of your trading business at which you’re not yet an expert.

Kelly Perdew was the second apprentice chosen by Donald Trump in the popular Reality TV Show “The Apprentice” (aka “You’re Fired!). He graduated from West Point, earned his Ranger Tabs, and graduated from the UCLA Joint Law-Business JD-MBA program. Additionally, he was involved in several businesses before appearing in the TV show, The Apprentice.

Kelly says that he learned 10 essential principles of leadership that helped him succeed in his career up to and including winning on The Apprentice. The following are the 10 principles.

Dreams For Focusing

Third, dreams give you specifics to narrowly focus upon that relate to the general ideas found in your predominant thoughts.

For example, you may be predominantly thinking about the general idea that you’d like to succeed at trading. Then you get dreams about corn. That could be an indication that you ought to focus on thinking predominantly about trading corn profitably.

Dreams As Premonitions

Second, as advance notice about what your predominant thinking is in the process of bringing into reality. At the dream stage, you still have time to change what you have predominately been thinking about so that if whatever shows up in your dreams is what you do NOT want, then you have time to substitute different predominant thoughts about what you DO want.

Dreams As Indicators

According to messages from the metaphysical world received through Esther Hicks, co-author of Ask and it is Given, whatever manifests in your dreams are a vibrational match to what you have been predominately thinking about.

Esther says she received methaphysical directions on three ways to use dreams.

First, as an indicator of what you have predominately been thinking about. If your dreams give you a feeling you dislike, then it is an indication that you need to discontinue thinking about what you do NOT want and substitute thinking about what you DO want.

Three Foci If 2 Didn't Work

If your mind doesn’t shut up after step two, you could go to step three.

That next step involves focusing on your heartbeat at the same time you focus on the two items from step two. Again, starting with a short interval and building up to 10 minutes or more is a good way to practice this.

Two Foci

The second step is to practice focusing on your abdomen rising and falling as you breathe while simultaneously focusing on the air entering your body through your nose or mouth. That gives you two stimuli to focus upon at the same time. This step too may have to be started with short intervals and built up. For example, you could start with this simultaneous focusing for just 3 minutes and day-by-day build up to 10 minutes.

Breathe Into A Quiet Mind

John described a self-study program in Seven Masters, One Path in which developing a Quiet Mind was one of the beginning steps.

The first step is to practice just focusing on your breathing. You may have to start with short intervals and build up. For example, you could start with focusing on your breathing for just 3 minutes and day-by-day build up to 10 minutes.

Talking Yourself Out of Profits & Into Losses

A Quiet Mind enables you to experience tranquility while having cash flow from trading/investing. Without a Quiet Mind, you sabotage yourself by sometimes/often talking yourself out of entering a trade that proves profitable or out of exiting a trade that proves to be a huge loser.

One of the best approaches to getting a Quiet Mind is described by John Selby in his book Quiet Your Mind.

John mentions scientific research in which it was discovered that when you focus your attention on two different stimuli simultaneously, your mind shuts up. For example, if you focus on both your breathing and your heartbeat, your mind shuts up.

Miraculous Coincidences

This is the last in a series of articles that started April 30, 2007 with the article entitled “Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire”.

The seventh principle is to access the conspiracy of improbabilities. Notice and be on the lookout for coincidences because they are messages from the hints about your role in imminent miracles.

Fifth and Sixth Principle of Synchrodestiny

This is the fourth in a series of articles that started April 30, 2007 with the article entitled “Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire”.

The fifth principle is to harness your emotional turbulence. Four steps suggested by Deepak are:
1. Distinguish what you observe from your conclusions and opinions based on what you observe;
2. Feel the physical sense of your feelings as they occur;
3. Decide and choose (arbitrarily if you will) how you want to feel;
4. Ask for what you want others to do to facilitate how you want to feel instead of demanding that they do it.

The sixth principle is to celebrate the dance of the cosmos. Allow archetypes, whether masculine or feminine, to express themselves through you.

Positive Inner Dialogue & Written Intentions

This is the third in a series of articles that started April 30, 2007 with the article entitled “Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire”.

The third principle is to practice positive inner dialogue. Say to yourself often that you are independent of the opinions (good and bad) of others; that you are equal to everyone; and that you are brave in the face of challenges.

The fourth principle is to clarify and write out what you intend to become reality.

I Am You, You Are Me, We Are The Walrus

This is the second in a series of articles that started April 30, 2007 with the article entitled “Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire”.

The first principle is that you are a ripple in the fabric of the cosmos. There is an underlying intelligence that gives rise to your body and everything else in the universe. Since that underlying intelligence gives rise to everything in the three dimensional world and since you are part of that underlying intelligence, then realize that you are what gives rise to everything in the three dimensional world. That includes your profits and losses from trading.

The second principle is that through the mirror of relationships, you discover your nonlocal self. Use relationships as a tool for spiritual evoltuion with the goal of reaching unity consciousness, the realization that everyone else in the world is a version of yourself.
