So-hum Meditation

The type of meditation Deepak recommends is a simple one where you sit quietly and pay attention to your breathing. If your attention strays from your breathing, gently return to it. Do that for 20 minutes twice daily.
Later, when you feel comfortable doing that, add the sound of “so” on the in-breath and the sound “hum” to the outbreath. You can do the so-hum sound either outloud or merely imagine hearing it. The so-hum sound, a mantra, sets up a vibration (whether you do it outloud or silently) that results in an environment that allows you to experience the nonlocal domain.
